It almost certainly doesn't. WLAN not working prompted me to fiddle with /etc/network/interfaces, I didn't have anything in there from a fresh lenny install when I used nm/lenny (or squeeze) and knetworkmanager (worked fine in KDE4, but I now wanted to use the KDE4 widget...) But it's possible that with experimenting around and deciding that I'd write a bug report, /etc/network/interfaces was not clean when I took the log for the bug report.
