The description used to be longer, but it has been cut due to my sponsor's comment regarding how the description reflects the target readers. For packages that are normally automatically installed like the run-time libraries, the description is not supposed to be read, and thus its shortness for users' hint to skip. I saw many examples of this practice in Debian and I agreed. Therefore, only the *-dev, *-doc, *-bin packages were described long. I'm OK to make it either way, given a settled concensus about this.
