Package: syslinux-common
Version: 2:3.75+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

During an upgrade of a relatively old chroot:

  Selecting previously deselected package syslinux-common.
  Unpacking syslinux-common (from .../syslinux-common_2%3a3.75+dfsg-1_all.deb)
...
  dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/syslinux-common_2%3a3.75+dfsg-1_all.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/usr/bin/syslinux2ansi', which is also in package
syslinux
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Preparing to replace syslinux 1:3.36-5 (using
.../syslinux_2%3a3.75+dfsg-1_i386.deb) ...
  Unpacking replacement syslinux ...

Apparently the Replaces was removed in 2:3.74+dfsg-1. These fields take
practically no effort to maintain; you can leave them there forever and
they do basically no harm at all. I have Replaces going back at least to
slink in some of my packages and I don't find I have to waste a single
neuron on them. 'Tidying them up' just makes life a pain for people
doing occasional upgrades of unstable systems who don't really want to
have to worry about whether Debian happened to release in the meantime.

Thanks,
