-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I think I did not make my original wish clear enough; I am sorry for that. What I would like is an option like "-probeonly" which would cause mplayer to not actually play any content but print (configurably) all information it gathers before it normally starts playing, i.e. e.g. the encodings used in the file, frames per second, audio samples per second and length in hours, minutes, seconds.
Something roughly similar in parts can be achieved by using a command line like this: MPLAYER_VERBOSE=-6 mplayer -endpos 0 -msglevel demux=4:header=-1:cplayer=4:decaudio=5:decvideo=5:all=-1 "$FILENAME" But this still includes some unneeded information (like a complaint that no infrared devices are available) but does not show the length of the recording. I hope that this more detailed description now qualifies my wishlist entry for consideration. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iEYEARECAAYFAkn9tgUACgkQMiDYPOQNapEK7ACdEVLwlODAVk/ywZEbVxpdnex5 xVMAnRObDvMkUl1LWBTLmUMeH8j3AlJH =qTz6 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
