Package: acpi-support Version: 0.109-11 Severity: normal Hi,
executing vbetool on a system running a kernel with KMS enabled will cause problems. vbetool seems to disable the interrupt of the GPU which causes weird behaviour of X. Since vbetool already tells in its manpage that it must not be run when X is running, I'd argue that this is less a bug in vbetool but rather one in the scripts of acpi-support that end up executing vbetool. See https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20896 for more information on the issue. ciao Dariush -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.1 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable'), (101, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-rc3-00537-g4d5bacf (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages acpi-support depends on: ii acpi-support-base 0.109-11 scripts for handling base ACPI eve ii acpid 1.0.8-1lenny1 Utilities for using ACPI power man ii dmidecode 2.9-1 Dump Desktop Management Interface ii finger 0.17-12 user information lookup program ii hdparm 8.9-3 tune hard disk parameters for high ii laptop-detect 0.13.6 attempt to detect a laptop ii libc6 2.9-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii lsb-base 3.2-20 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii powermgmt-base 1.30+nmu1 Common utils and configs for power ii vbetool 1.1-2 run real-mode video BIOS code to a ii x11-xserver-utils 7.4+2 X server utilities Versions of packages acpi-support recommends: ii dbus 1.2.1-5 simple interprocess messaging syst ii hal 0.5.12~git20090406.46dc48-2 Hardware Abstraction Layer ii nvclock 0.8b3-1 Allows you to overclock your nVidi ii pm-utils 1.1.2.4-1 utilities and scripts for power ma ii radeontool 1.5-5 utility to control ATI Radeon back Versions of packages acpi-support suggests: ii laptop-mode-tools 1.48-1 Scripts to spin down hard drive an -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
