The background for this bug is available at: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-fso-maint/2009-May/001094.html Basically, the manpage is not so clear about the 'remove' command: COMMANDS [..] remove codename package-names Delete all packages in the specified distribution, that have package name listed as argument. (i.e. remove all packages list with the same arguments and options would list, except that an empty package list is not allowed.) I read this as not only remove all the references in Packages.gz, but also as physically delete the corresponding package files. Instead, only the first action is performed (ATM I ignore how to do the second).
