Package: fai
Version: 2.8.4
Severity: important

When I created a fai-cd from an nfsroot which uses the fai-kernels
package 2.6.8.x, defined in the variable KERNELPACKAGE
in /etc/fai/make-fai-nfsroot.conf in line like this:

KERNELPACKAGE=/usr/lib/fai/kernel/kernel-image-2.6.8-fai_1_i386.deb

and try to boot and install with this cd, I get the following error
after chosing either install or sysinfo in the grub menu and entering
the password, after some more boot messages that are as they should:

--- error screen start ---

Gibraltar ... loading searching for CD....

trying to locate cdrom: no ATAPI CD-ROM drives found
searching for installed SCSI adapters...
/linuxrc: 561: cannot create: Directory nonexistent
/linuxrc: 561: cannot open: no such file
/linuxrc: 561: wc: not found
/linuxrc: 561: yes: not found
/linuxrc: 561: cannot create: Directory nonexistent
/linuxrc: 561: head: not found
/linuxrc: 561: cannot create: Directory nonexistent

--- error screen end ---

When using the default 2.4.27 fai-kernels included kernelpackage, I get
a a "working" fai-cd.

I put severity on important because this makes a lot of trouble and
creating and burning cd's to find out how to get a fai-cd working, and
a fai-cd should simply work with the kernels included in the fai-kernels
package without such trouble, or at least warn users.

A quick workaround saving users lots of hassle would just be to check if
a kernel 2.6 is used and then tell them that this doesn't work.

Henning (hoping to be able to create a patch at least for checking for
the known as not to work kernel image version in the near future)
