For what it's worth, a deadlock took one of our production systems
running 2.6.26-1-amd64 down last night. We had four backups scheduled
to kick off at the same time (probably not a good idea in the first
place, eh?). Each backup takes a snapshot of a different logical
volume. The endgame was that we could still ssh into the system but
the applications were very unstable (I'm guessing this is the high CPU
utilization previously reported) and the only way to recover was to
reboot.
