The current version is 0.17 (released May 2, 2009), while the current version in Debian (experimental) is 0.15-1. Please upgrade the Geany version in Debian. Two releases (0.16 and 0.17) have passed, and while Ubuntu has them, Debian does not.
This bug blocks the packaging of the whole set of Geany plugins, which all depend on Geany >= 0.16 at the moment, and will eventually depend on Geany >= 0.17.
