Package: buildd.debian.org
Severity: wishlist
Ubuntu arch-indep binaries are currently built only in i386 build
jobs. This is a blocker to sources which can only build arch-indep
binaries in very specific architectures. The most common cases sources
that provides architecture emulation layers.
The concept of architecture-independent 'affinity' can be easily
modeled and documented in the P-a-s file by listing the special
sources and the architecture in which their arch-indep binaries should
be created.
Similarly to what we do for sources lines, we can start the lines
representing 'arch-indep-affinity' using and invalid package name
character such as '!' or '&', e.g.:
{{{
!palo: hppa
!openhackware: powerpc
...
}}}
Those lines will be hashed by the current C parser, but won't affect
the its tasks since nothing will match. Also, it won't cause any major
performance problem because we are talking about not more than 4
sources.
Looking forward to reach an agreement about the validity of concept
and the format.
Thanks
