Note that in general, if (and only if) the original author doesn't want to maintain a script anymore, there's also still the possibility of pushing bugfixes directly in or taking over maintainership of a script in the irssi.org scripts archive (by mailing [email protected] and explaining the original author isn't interested anymore).
