You may not want to set $TMPDIR as it will be inherited by child
processes. Mutt's $tmpdir is OK, though.
However I'm not sure that the default /tmp is the right choice. What do
the other MUA's do (and news clients too)? AFAIK, tin uses the user's home
directory.
