2.0 does have some performance problems, which I'm working on fixing for 2.1. Tip: Linear or ZOH interpolation, or no resampling at all, would be faster. Also, check whether top shows "user" or "system" CPU time being used. If it's system time, it's probably being used by ALSA's "dmix" resampler rather than Audacious.
