With 1.6.1-3, when I enter a hidden essid, all the previously seen networks (including the hidden one) disappear, and wicd-client declares "No wireless networks found". OTOH, the essid seems to have been set properly, as shown by iwconfig, and a subsequent dclient invocation from the command line successfully brings up the interface.
