At this point, before I go searching through the source code, I am going to package the new upstream version and see if that fixes it. I am able to reproduce this issue, so I will try fix this, but will upload the new version regardless, as it contains other fixes. As for issues 2 and on, those should be filed under keytouch, but I believe they may be caused by an malformed config generated by keytouch-editor.
