What is the value of "data_directory" in
/etc/postgresql/8.3/<name>/postgresql.conf? If it doesn't exist, what
does
ls -l /var/lib/postgresql/8.1/<name>/pgdata
show? What's the exact output of "pg_lsclusters"?
