Package: xpdf
Version: xpdf-3.00-13

Here's a what seems to be a pretty hard nut to crack: On my amd64 system some
documents (example: http://www.dnt.de/dl/58/SportyAdventur-eng-rgb.pdf)
produce garbled output in xpdf-reader, evince and kpdf (3.4.1 from
experimental) alike.

I cannot reproduce this problem with any PDF that is typeset with LaTeX, but
with most fliers/leaflets/specs floating around on the web.

Following discussion of the problem on debian-amd64, I got the attached
additional feedback which might be helpful. If there's anything I can do to
help tracking down the problem, please don't hesitate to ask.

regards,
Volker

I can reproduce your problem, but only on amd64.
Using http://www.dnt.de/dl/58/SportyAdventur-eng-rgb.pdf

xpdf-3.00-13 on amd64 (sid) shows garbled fonts.
xpdf-3.00-13 on x86 (sarge) does not.
xpdf-3.00-8ubuntu1.4 on x86 (Ubuntu) does not.

So it's either a deeper library version problem, or xpdf
on amd64 itself.  My amd64/sid test used the Ubuntu machine
as the X server, so it's probably not X's fault.

Of course, yes.

It sounds like a hard bug to get started on.  No crash stack traces
to investigate.  I'm rebuilding from source now...  grrr... it crashed
on a likely gcc-4.0 incompatibility.
