There's no clean way currently to specify additional options for msgmerge for all invokations. We'd like to be able to use ‘--previous’ in several project but it can only be set partially by defining “MSGMERGE="$MSGMERGE --previous” in configure.ac after having called AM_GNU_GETTEXT, but that one does not affect the MSGMERGE variable in the Makefile.in.in only MSMERGE_UPDATE.
