I've seen this happen for a couple of times now, yet there has never been a single reproducible test case. But because I still hope I might see one someday I don't want to swap those lines. I've already documented screen's requirements regarding the permissions of that directory to the top of README.Debian's Q&A section - there's nothing more I can do right now.
