Package: bison Version: 1:2.4.1.dfsg-2 Severity: normal /usr/share/man/man1/yacc.1.gz is part of the bison package but the postinst register an alternative that is supposed to handle that manual page... you can't have both !
Currently this leads to some cryptic messages at installation time saying that the alternative is broken and won't be fixed: update-alternatives: warning: forcing reinstallation of alternative /usr/bin/bison.yacc because link group yacc is broken. update-alternatives: warning: not replacing /usr/bin/yacc with a link. (the fact that it mentions /usr/bin/yacc and not the manual page is a dpkg-dev bug that I'm going to tackle now) -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages bison depends on: ii libc6 2.9-21 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii m4 1.4.13-1 a macro processing language bison recommends no packages.
