Heh.  Neither did I, until a number of packages failed in this way.

No, I'm reporting bugs against packages that fail to build as my
autobuilder finds them.  I'm not sure whether all packages fail, or
just those that use "-split=chapter".

That's a good idea.  I'll see if I can figure out exactly which
packages fail to build, then send a message to debian-devel asking if
anyone objects to your plan.
