Package: kernel-package
Version: 12.017
Severity: minor

Hi Manoj.

Perhaps some points that could be improved:
1) The *_hook options in the kernel-img manpage:
Should be documented, that they (for those where this applies) are executed in addition and after the scripts from /etc/kernel/*

Perhaps it would also make sense to mark those which have counterparts in /etc/kernel/* as deprecated or so?!

2) Also in that manpage, the default for ignore_depmod_err is not given.
clobber_modules, warn_reboot, force_build_link, silent_modules just say whether the default is set or unset but not whether this is yes / no. Of course this should be clear for anybody,.. but perhaps it might be worth to add this for the novice users ;)

3) in the /u/s/doc dir:
- It seems that Rational is available twice (one gzipped, once plain).
- The same applies to HOWTO-Linux-2.6-Woody, but this could be removed anyway, couldn't it? - Not sure if README.grub gives any valuable information,.. so perhaps this can be removed to (or upgraded to give users info on how they should/could) use upgrade-grub).
- Multi-Arch.gz and README.modules seems to be a little bit outdated, too.
- examples/etc/sample.kernel-img.conf seems to be out of date (uses no longer documented options).
- not sure what kpkg_grub.conf is used for.

4) In the kernel-pkg.conf manpage:
- There is no default given for rood_cmd (you told that in this case no root_cmd would be used at all, so probably one must be root?!) - No defaults given for delete_build_link, do_clean, install_vmlinux, kpkg_follow_symlinks_in_src and make_libc_headers (although it should be clear for the later one) ;)
- CONFDIR is described twice, with different text.

Thanks and best wishes,
Chris :)
