Yeah, that's a little more of an explanation than the first email. :)

So far I have only used mpt-status as the daemon process started by the init 
script, but there were other people that want to use it with nagios or just 
the program itself. I also think that there is a new upstream release, which 
should probably make it into squeeze. Overall, it would be nice to have 
another maintainer on the package. Do you have interest in helping to maintain 
the package? I am pretty flat out at the moment with other debian work, so I am 
not sure how soon I'll get to this.
