When you install ejabberd package in lenny or in sid ( 2009.08.11 ) it
work's fine until you try to use postgresql as a
backend for any module you get an error message in
/var/log/ejabberd/ejabberd.log:
[...]
The problem is that Erlang drivers needed to actually access various
RDBMSes are not part of ejabberd, rather, they're part of the
"ejabberd-modules" project which is only hosted by Process-One (who owns
ejabberd) but not supported.
Therefore, they can't be sensibly included in the ejabberd package.
Possibly, a set of related (and recommended) packages like
ejabberd-odbc-postgresql and ejabberd-odbc-mysql would be nice to have.
Anyone is free to create and maintain such a package.
As to this bug, a note about RDBMS storage backends in README.Debian is
possibly needed.
