Package: flex
Version: 2.5.35-6
Severity: important

Hi there.

I'm the first to admit that I'm a flex newbie, but I think I found a problem
that affects all
users of this program.

Basically, flex can generate code that will get stuck in an infinite loop on
some input
patterns. It should reject the specification if this is a possibility.

To demonstrate this, I've released version 1.0.3 of v3c into git.

You can obtain this by changing to a directory writable by you and..

    git-clone git://v3c.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/v3c
    cd v3c
    make git tag="1.0.3" check

You will need the usual development tools - git, automake, autoconf, libtool,
g++ ...
This check ends with the "options_test" run by "run_options_test" being aborted
because
of a timeout necessitated by the infinite loop.
