I thought it was something along those lines, that's why I ended up
emailing you directly.

Basically, the best thing is that all communicating to bug reports is
sent to <bug number>@bugs.debian.org. That way the entire discussion is
captured in a public space and all people involved or interested can see
what's happening. In the current case, I am actually the package
(co-)maintainer whereas Alban is not actually involved with the package.

I don't believe this is comparable: mondo works fine without the
dvd+rw-tools package installed. It only needs it for DVD writing. If you
don't want to do this, you don't need the dvd+rw-tools package for
mondo. This is unlike e.g. ettercap-gtk which doesn't start without the
gtk library avaiable whereas ettercap doesn't use gtk even if it is
installed.

Please also see my previous message to you that I hope you have received
on 19 Jun 05, where I refer to Debian Policy, section 7.2, which has
more details about 'Recommends' versus 'Depends'. The underlying idea is
basically that recommended packages are getting installed unless this is
actively prevented by the user. This means that normally the
dvd+rw-tools package would get installed along with mondo but someone
that doesn't want it, e.g. because of space constraints does not have to
install it.

That would be great! I'm certainly keen to fix the problem.
