Yes, man pages explains as follows: "Also build source package, i.e. use dpkg-buildpackage without -B. This also switches on --purge=never" which does not concern the -sa opt AFAIK. I would instead add one more dpkg-buildpackage related option configuration var for that, such as --force-original and $force_original = 1. I can think to situations where the default behavior is absolutely ok and other where that's required. -- Francesco P.
