The current hotplug script /lib/udev/gpsd.hotplug launches gpsd with a hardcoded command line. It would be more consistent to use the DAEMON_OPTIONS of /etc/default/gpsd, esp. since USBAUTO variable of this file is already evaluated by the hotplug mechanism.
