That bug report is closed, since the developers only read the subject and implemented a method to disable the single user mode entry. I filed a new bug, https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/index.php?27282 explicitly asking for altoptions, and referred to both the debian bug and the discussion on grub-devel.
