Hello I have the same issue with mrxvt-0.5.4-1.
In my case the ofending option is "Mrxvt.shading", in /etc/mrxvt/mrxvtrc. Without coment it, elinks don't work fine with mrxvt (always shows a "dark" background). So I need to comment it. I diffied /etc/mrxvt/mrxvtrc in mrxvt-0.5.4-1 and mrxvt-0.5.3-2, and in 0.5.4-1 the file has a GENERAL SETTINGS section that there isn't in the 0.5.3-2 file. If I coment out all the section, mrxvt and elinks works OK. So please, don't ship the file with that section. Thanks in advance. Grettings.
