AFAICS this line (cluck "Your perl") is not in svn.

Othwise the patch looks (to my ignorant eyes) quite similar to Don's
second proposal.
 

I guess we should decide if we wait for upstream (and set the package
to UNRELEASED) or finish and upload soon.
