OK. My investigation is done. GSASL includes library symbol versioning since version 1.1. This is even considering as beneficial for Debian. And it is, if we use the symbols file, it is easier just including wildcards and let the library symbol versioning do the work for us. Since I trust Josefsson to do the right thing in respect to library maintenance, I'd say our job in maintaining this symbols file would be rather easier with the libsymver. Since I am leaving right now for a work, no package upload will be done before the next 6 hours. As soon as I do it, I will ask the maintainers of packages depending on libgsasl and built with version 1.1 to do a rebuild.
