For 2.8.6-2, that could have been an issue fixed in 2.8.6dev.6: 2004-10-10 (2.8.6dev.6) * remove a "defined(gettext)" from the ifdef's in HTConfirmCookie(), since recent GNU gettext, e.g., 0.13.1, introduced an incompatible/undocumented change to make the function a macro which is defined in terms of dgettext() (Debian #204994, report by Mattias Ostergren) -TD
