first of all, as you said, the bug is only appearing when using custom kernels (therefore downgrading severity to minor). second, a workaround for this is that you pass --ipv4 to the daemon (debconf asks you for additional options, enter it there). third, the bug in the actual code should be reported upstream. i'll do this.
