I have a Thinkpad T43 with an ATI MOBILITY /ATI RADEON X300 (1002:5460 PCI ID) and it shows the same error. Disabling terminal gfxterm in /etc/grub/grub.cfg fixes it temporarily ? BTW: Is there any way to edit the grub.cfg from the grub2 console? I can view it with "cat" but I couldn't find any means in grub2 console to edit it.
