Package: ppp Version: 2.4.3-20050321+2 Severity: important
I'm using ppp to connect to my tivo across a serial line. If the tivo is not actively trying to connect when pppd is started then pppd starts spinning and eating up > 90% of the cpu. At that point it will not respond. I found a resolved bug in upstream's bug tracker (<http://ppp.samba.org/cgi-bin/ppp-bugs/resolved?id=1143>) that indicated that it had been fixed in the latest CVS code. I got the latest from CVS and it seems to not have the same problem. I tried to narrow it down by diffing the upstream CVS to the debian source but because there are so many patches and because I don't know the source very well I wasn't up to the task. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.10-1-686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages ppp depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libpam-modules 0.76-22 Pluggable Authentication Modules f ii libpam-runtime 0.76-22 Runtime support for the PAM librar ii libpam0g 0.76-22 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libpcap0.7 0.7.2-7 System interface for user-level pa ii makedev 2.3.1-78 creates device files in /dev ii netbase 4.21 Basic TCP/IP networking system ii procps 1:3.2.5-1 /proc file system utilities ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4 compression library - runtime -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
