Ah -- Sam has clarified to me that there are SDL headers that include the GLU headers, even though they aren't used during compilation of SDL. So the only bug here was the dropping of the '| libglu-dev' alternative, which continues to be relevant due to the presence of mesa. -- Steve Langasek postmodern programmer
