Okay, trying to give more details, but unfortunately, there's no log file from
the failed boot attemps since the root partition is mounted readonly, and I
don't know what to look for. I'm giving it a try, tell me if there's anything
specific I should look for.
hwclock --localtime yields the correct time regarding my timezone, this
means my system clock is set to localtime, right?
I get the following behaviour, 100% reproducable:
1.) I boot the system. In the log messages I see in this order (with lots of
other stuff in between):
* "EXT3-fs: INFO: recovery required on readonly filesystem [...]
sda5 [...] recovery complete"
sda5 is my root partition, but why is a recovery required? Has there
already been a problem during the last shutdown without me noticing?
* "EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem" (presumably sd5)
* "udev starting"
* fsck fails on sda5 with the "last write time in the future" message
2.) I get the "give root password for maintanance" login message, log in
and run "fsck /dev/sda5; reboot"
3.) On reboot, the messages are (I can provide the logfile if needed):
* "EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem"
* "udev starting"
* "EXT3 FS on sda5"
* "EXT3 FS on sda7" (this is my home partition)
* "EXT3-fs: mounted filesytem"
4.) The system boots fine, I work, and shutdown the system without problems.
5.) Next time, I'm at 1.) again
Cheers,
Rebecca
