well, the below was included in my email to [EMAIL PROTECTED], which is
accessible from bug 308146's page by link(s), but i want the text to be
readily visible, so i'm resending this to [EMAIL PROTECTED] explicitly. 
(should have done this in the original email.)

in linkchecker's current form it is impossible for me to verify my own
website.  i am quite restrictive in robots.txt, but of course i don't
mean for that to apply to my own linkchecker scan.  but i cannot tell
linkchecker to ignore my own robots.txt.

i hoped by filing this bug that the functionality would be completed,
not removed.  i respect your choice to remove the partial
implementation.  but as a workaround to those who may come behind me, i
provide the attached patch/hack.
