I'm using Debian testing with an Intel 945GM graphics card. Please give us some more information about your graphical environment and drivers. Does xgalaga change the size of the screen when it goes full-screen? The output of xdpyinfo would be useful too. Please try using the xgalaga -winsize option to set the screen size that xgalaga tries to set when it goes full-screen.
