Nevertheless, it doesn't explain why gnome-settings-daemon 2.26 doesn't work correctly.

the wallpaper appears.

That's normal:

       --no-desktop
              Do not manage the desktop — ignore the preference set in the
preferences dialog.

With that option nautilus won't take care of the wallpaper.
