reopen 546426 thanks It seems, that Trac uses setuptools only at one place: To get the version number using setuptools.__version__. I have no idea whether this is really needed or whether we can get the version string from pkg-resources somehow. If this cannot be fixed easily I will just revert the dependency change these days.
