Weird, but # cd /etc/php5/conf.d # mv curl.ini postpgsql-curl.ini
instantly makes the segfault go away. Renaming to 'baseball.ini' does not make the segfault go away, so the name is not random. Flat Ubuntu Hardy install with all updates, Moodle package with PostgreSQL, all ran out of the box.
