reassign 550688 inform-mode retitle 550688 Removing but not purging produces errors when opening .h files thanks
I'm sure this bug is not emacs' fault, but caused by inform-mode. Thus I reassign this bug to inform-mode. If one removes but does not purge inform-mode, the package init script in /etc/emacs/site-start.d assigns inform-mode-maybe for .h files to auto-mode-alist, but the needed autoload files are not there any longer. We should check if /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/inform-mode still exists before fiddling with auto-mode-alist and load-path. I will make a patch for the source package to fix this.
