Subject: initscripts: cleaning of /var/run problem Followup-For: Bug #286479 Package: initscripts Version: 2.86.ds1-1
I got bitten by this too. I added an /etc/rc[2-5].d/S20mountnfs.sh symlink to try to mount nfs filesystems after nis was started (the server names we use are stored in nis) and after a reboot some time later dbus-1 stopped working (automatically mounting cd's stopped working actually). After some heavy digging I discovered that mountnfs.sh seems to clear /var/run (this was not expected behaviour). Is there a cleaner way to retry mounting nfs filesystems after nis has started? Why is the cleaning of these directories in mountnfs.sh? Shouldn't that be done in a dedicated script e.g. by making bootclean.sh a real script and adding /etc/rcS.d/S36bootclean.sh /etc/rcS.d/S46bootclean.sh -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (50, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.11.12-west-optiplex Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_GB (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages initscripts depends on: ii coreutils 5.2.1-2 The GNU core utilities ii dpkg 1.10.28 Package maintenance system for Deb ii e2fsprogs 1.37-2sarge1 ext2 file system utilities and lib ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii mount 2.12p-4 Tools for mounting and manipulatin ii util-linux 2.12p-4 Miscellaneous system utilities -- -- arthur de jong - [EMAIL PROTECTED] - west consulting b.v. -- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
