Package: linda Version: 0.3.13.sarge.1 Severity: normal Hi,
For some packages, such as "kxterm", Linda complains that the command specified in the menu file is missing even though it is in fact in the package. This happens with both sarge and sid versions of Linda. I think it occurs when the full path to the command is not given; i.e., command="kxterm" rather than command="/usr/bin/kxterm". There are an enormous number of packages whose menu files don't give the full path to the command, so I am fairly sure that Linda is in the wrong, not kxterm. Example (for the kxterm package from sarge): $ linda -i kxterm_2004.11.04-3_i386.deb W: kxterm; The command kxterm listed in a menu file does not exist. The command shown above is referenced in a menu file installed into /usr/lib/menu, however, the command does not exist in the package. $ dpkg -c kxterm_2004.11.04-3_i386.deb | grep bin drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2005-03-21 09:07:24 ./usr/bin/ -rwxr-xr-x root/root 81816 2005-03-21 09:07:24 ./usr/bin/kxterm $ dpkg -x kxterm_2004.11.04-3_i386.deb . && cat usr/lib/menu/kxterm ?package(kxterm):needs="x11" section="Apps/Science" \ title="KXterm" command="kxterm" \ icon="/usr/share/pixmaps/kxterm32x32.xpm" \ longtitle="The Cernlib KUIP terminal emulator" -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-386 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages linda depends on: ii binutils 2.15-6 The GNU assembler, linker and bina ii dash 0.5.2-5 The Debian Almquist Shell ii file 4.12-1 Determines file type using "magic" ii man-db 2.4.2-21 The on-line manual pager ii python 2.3.5-2 An interactive high-level object-o -- no debconf information regards, -- Kevin B.
