Zaptel is a collection of kernel modules and libraries to provide the Zapata Telephony interface, used mostly by Asterisk. It has been renamed to DAHDI due to a name dispute with zaptel.com . See http://blogs.digium.com/2008/05/19/zaptel-project-being-renamed-to-dahdi/ Zaptel is still supported, but generally in maintinance mode. No new release has been made for over a year. The packages dahdi-linux and dahdi-tools provide a simple upgrade path from zaptel. They are already in Squeeze. Only dependency of Zaptel in the archive was Asterisk.
