Huh? I am sure more mirrors support http than rsync, http works over 
proxies while rsync doesn't, and I don't see a reason why the pdiff 
stuff should disappear.

Are there any mirrors that have Contents.gz and not the pdiffs? This 
would require specific setup by the mirror admin. Also, rsync puts 
more cpu load on the mirror than http.

I don't think using rsync makes sense.
