Even further testing reveals that Bug 494795 is still a problem with
xl2tpd version 1.2.4+dfsg-1 if the pppol2tp module is loaded when using
debian kernel linux-image-2.6.26-2-amd64 or linux-image-2.6.30-2-amd64
I cant find any notes in the xl2tpd changelog which would imply that
anything was actually fixed... only that they changed the default
compile option to disable USE_KERNEL
There is a note in the Makefile above the disabled USE_KERNEL option
stating:
# Note: 2.6.23+ support still needs some changes in the xl2tpd source
BUT The readme states
xl2tpd supports the pppol2tp kernel mode operations on 2.6.23 or higher
Therefore im "assuming" that Bug 494795 was fixed by simply disabling
the ability to use the kernel mode pppol2tp module in the debian
package...??
The result is kernel mode l2tp doesnt work in 1.2.4, so we are compiling
it without this option but at the same time we are telling people that
it works...
Confused,
