Thank you. I figured the problem was in xdg-email, which is broken for KDE 4 (bug reported against xdg-utils). The reason reportbug-ng also fails if a MUA other than "Default" is selected is that the selection is not recorded. Going back to Settings after choosing Icedove, for example, will show Default selected. Here is the debug output I obtained trying that:
ReportbugNG DEBUG After the MUA call Settings INFO Logger initialized. Settings ERROR Mua not found: Icedove RngGui DEBUG Accepted settings change, applying. Settings INFO Logger initialized. Settings ERROR Mua not found: Icedove RngGui DEBUG Accepted settings change, applying. Settings INFO Logger initialized. Settings ERROR Mua not found: Icedove Settings ERROR Mua not found: KMail Settings ERROR Mua not found: Mutt RngGui DEBUG Accepted settings change, applying. Settings INFO Logger initialized. RngGui DEBUG Accepted settings change, applying. Settings INFO Logger initialized. RngGui INFO Catched close event.
